3 Ontarians Named to Canada’s

OlympicTennis Team!

Ontario Tennis Association (17)

Canada’s Olympic tennis team has been confirmed for the 2024 Olympics. Included on the squad are 3 Ontarians, Bianca Andreescu (Mississauga), Gabriela Dabrowski (Ottawa) and Milos Raonic (Thornhill). Below are all the team members and the events they are scheduled to play.

  • Leylah Annie Fernandez – Women’s singles and doubles
  • Gabriela Dabrowski – Women’s singles and doubles
  • Bianca Andreescu – Women’s singles
  • Felix Auger-Aliassime – Men’s singles and doubles
  • Milos Raonic – Men’s singles and doubles

The entry list for mixed doubles will also be based on ranking but determined via an on-site sign-in the week of the event and will comprise athletes who are already participating in one of the other four draws.

The tennis event will take place from July 27 to August 4 (Day 1 to 9) at Roland-Garros, the site of the French Open. Canada’s only previous Olympic medal came at the 2000 Sydney Games, where Dan Nestor and Sébastien Lareau claimed gold in men’s doubles.

The Olympic Games are of massive importance for Canadians in Quebec and across the country, and we are sure that Leylah, Gabriela, Bianca, Felix and Milos will inspire more kids to pick up a racquet on the back of their performances in Paris.

Kingston TC 100th Anniversary Gala Evening

Ontario Tennis Association (19)

The Kingston Tennis Club (KTC) of Eastern Ontario turns 100 years old this year and a gala evening was held at the club on June 22nd to celebrate the momentous occasion. Former and current members were among the 150 guests in attendance at the “Centennial Smash”. Guests were encouraged to dress in vintage tennis or co*cktail attire, paired with tennis shoes or sneakers, which resulted in fun outfits from sporty to vintage. A comprehensive review of local newspaper archives and club records had been undertaken to coincide with the centenary celebration to enhance existing knowledge of the club’s history. The outcome was three display boards featuring photos and text of “100 Years of Love” for viewing by the guests. Party tents provided shelter from the rain that fell during dinner, then the skies cleared for dancing to the 12-piece band which played lively Motown tunes and created an upbeat mood. The gala evening provided a wonderful opportunity for old friends of the Kingston tennis community to reunite, as evidenced by all the smiling faces. Thanks go to the many KTC volunteers who made this happen!
