Life and careers are a bit like a Cornetto. (Writing this as I eat one). Hear me out.You got the top which is exciting and sweet, like entering your new career, you got the middle which is still good but not as interesting but necessary (the journey) and then you have the sweet bit of chocolate at the bottom that everybody loves! Really inspiring progress through from the bottom to the top of the company. What’s important here is the milestones, you can’t skip to top it’s a steady growth have patience and right ethics to reach that final goal. Steadiness along with actions at required times is success formula.

It also reminds us that there is only one CEO, and no matter how hard you work, how dedicated you are, if you have 50 other colleagues to compete with, it may just not happen for you. Not because you are not as good as the next successful person, but because there is simply a very small number of higher managerial positions. How many employees does PRET have in the UK? 5K? Now, out of those 5K how many are top executive positions? 3? 5? What also counts is luck, and being in the right place at the right time.

🥕🥕 Be a positive Carrot... 🥕🥕How can a little trinket make such an impact to a person? By the power of recognition that's how. Being gifted this a while back by one of Paragon Skills very own Ops Directors Janet Owens is still a highlight of my professional career. Having senior colleagues go out of their way to recognise positivity across their direct reports and wider colleagues is such an inspirational way to engage and motivate people to continue to go above and beyond. Especially during periods of significant growth. Since getting my positive carrot it sits nicely on my desk and I often reflect on my day and what has happened that I can feel positive about, or how I have been a positive carrot. Todays thoughts from a positive carrot… 🥕 I am so proud when I think of the development of Adam Blake and how he is successfully delivering results, creating engaging social media content and stepping out of his comfort zone to deliver a company wide job role session!
